Direct Support Professionals

Description

To support adults with autism engaged in community-based activities through job coaching and social/recreational programming. Positions require a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Live-in Caregiver

Description

Seeking exceptional individual interested in becoming housemate/caregiver for man with autism in North Wilmington/Bellefonte condominium community

The caregiver will share, a spacious two bedroom, two and half bath, living, dining room and kitchen home with the resident and enjoy his/her own rent-free furnished master bedroom with a full bath, and small adjacent office. Utilities, condo fees and Wi-Fi are included as well as access to the condo community swimming pool and fitness room.

About the resident

  • The resident has the disability of autism for which he needs around the clock support or supervision.
  • The resident has limited speech and uses a pictures (PECS) to communicate
  • The resident is fully mobile and has no physical health issues.
  • An existing team of caregivers support the resident throughout the day at work, in outdoor recreational activities and at home.

About the applicant

  • The caregiver would be required to be on site during overnight asleep hours
  • (M-F 10:30pm -8:30 am) and assist the resident in getting ready in the morning
  • This is not an overnight awake position as the resident typically sleeps through the night.

Desired qualifications

Previous experience as a caregiver, direct support professional, and/or work with the intellectual/developmental disability population is strongly preferred but not essential.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have transportation, a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Must pass State and Federal background checks, TB and COVID tests and a drug screen.

The resident’s home is a non-smoking, alcohol-free and equal opportunity environment.

Additional hours with compensation are available, if desired.
