Associate Executive Director

The AED directs the administrative work necessary to develop and implement agency services, programs and budgets; assures compliance with all audits of financial statements, pension plans, and federal mandates of the agency’s programs; oversees banking, accounting, and vendor relations; provides executive leadership to strategic fundraising development activities; fosters relationships with Autism Delaware’s many constituencies, including families, self-advocates, state agencies, and donors; directs communications and fundraising initiatives; maintains best practices in all areas of responsibility; and assists the executive director as required, assuming the responsibilities of that individual in his or her absence.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
Location:  Based in Newark, Delaware, with offices in Dover and Lewes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. MBA or other specialty related to the core services of Autism Delaware.

2. Min six years’ experience in finance/accounting of human services or nonprofit organizations.

3. Min two years direct experiences working with boards of directors.

4. Facility in written and spoken English.

5. High level of personal organization.

6. High level of proficiency with MS Office software, specifically Excel; and with QuickBooks.

7. Must be sensitive to and willing to work with clients from highly diverse backgrounds that include race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical and mental health history, and socio-economic status.

8. Must be willing and flexible regarding location of service delivery to clients.

9. Frequent travel required between agency sites and to various local, regional, and national locations.

10. Valid driver’s license required.

Volunteer Coordinator

 

Description

Delaware’s leading private, nonprofit agency serving the autism community statewide seeks a full-time volunteer coordinator to maximize existing volunteer resources and support the expansion of the organization’s overall volunteer management and recruitment efforts.  This position further recruits volunteers to staff fundraising events, family support programs, and community awareness events.  Reports to the Director of Development.        

Location: This position will work out Autism Delaware’s three statewide offices in Newark, Dover, and Lewes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. High school diploma is required, college degree preferred.

2. Good oral and written communication skills.

3. Strong organizational skills.

4. Knowledge of personal computers and software including database systems, word processing, and spreadsheets.  

5. Ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, copiers, calculators, postage meters, and fax machines. 

6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 

7. Strong people skills—comfortable with providing ongoing support and motivation to the agency’s existing volunteer base; as well as with reaching out to a wide variety of individuals for the purposes of volunteer recruitment

8. Collaborative team player who can work with others to assure complete volunteer coverage of fundraising events, family support events, and information tables.

9. Willingness to travel to the agency’s various locations, and to work on-site at events to oversee volunteers.

Family Support Provider

 

Description

Autism Delaware’s Family Support Provider is a parent or caregiver of a child, youth or adult with autism spectrum disorder and has leadership and partnership skills that can be helpful to other families and the systems that serve them. The overall responsibility of the Family Support Provider (FSP) role is to provide one-on-one support and education to families of children with autism spectrum disorder. The FSP assists families in navigating educational, therapeutic and social services systems, serves as an advocate for families, helps families develop skills so that they can advocate for themselves, serves as an emotional support and positive role model to parents and caregivers and works with families in solving problems related to the care of their child or youth. FSPs represent and advocate for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder and their families through Autism Delaware. The FSP is responsible for maintaining communication with the family, the community and Autism Delaware. The FSP will provide information on community resources to assist and support families, serve as the contact for families receiving services from various agencies, and provide guidance to empower families to advocate for needed services and supports.

He or she must have an understanding of systems and the range of resources available for children, adults and families. She or he must be able to share that knowledge effectively through family meetings and consultation with professionals.

This is a contract position and we are hiring in NCC, Kent and Sussex counties. This position meets families in the community or in the office.  Hours range from 10-15 hours per week depending on caseload and family availability. Travel to various locations to be expected. Attendance at 4-day training in January 2019 and weekly supervision meetings is required.

– The Family Support Provider is an individual who has self-identified as parent or caregiver of an individual with autism spectrum disorder

– Is at least 21 years of age

– Must have at minimum a high school education or General Educational Development (GED) (preferably with some college background). 

– Must pass a criminal background check.

– Possess a valid drivers’ license.

– Ability to use experiences to assist and support other families

– Knowledge of the system of services for children/adults with autism including special education/IEP process

– Ability to work with multiple team players

– Dependable, mature and able to use good judgement

– Exceptional communication and organizational skills

– Excellent oral and written communication skills.

– Skills in a variety of software applications. 

– Ability to adhere to our organization’s core values and options policy

– Punctual and regular attendance at supervision meetings as scheduled.

Family Navigator Kent/Sussex – Part-Time

 

Description

Family Navigators are responsible for providing support, mentoring, advocacy, and guidance to families impacted by autism spectrum disorder. The navigator is responsible for supporting parent leadership, modeling collaboration and encouraging family engagement. He or she must have an understanding of systems and the range of resources available for children, adults and families. She or he must be able to share that knowledge effectively in the form of presentations, family meetings, and consultation with professionals. The navigator maintains relationships with families and community groups/agencies through phone contact and/or face-to-face meetings. This position supports programs for engaging children, adults and families and assists in the design and implementation of programs, such as support groups, parent training, parent mentoring and social/recreational activities. Family Navigators represents Autism Delaware Inc. at inter-agency meetings, and serves as an educational support. 

This position is a part-time hourly position approximately 20-25 hours per week.  This position primarily works out of the Autism Delaware Lewes Office. Attendance at evening, parenting events and other social activities is required.  Travel to other locations to be expected.

Southern Delaware Development Assistant – Part Time

 

Description

Delaware’s leading private agency serving the autism community statewide is seeking a part-time Development Assistant in its Southern Delaware office, serving as a member of the development team with a specific focus on Kent and Sussex Counties. The individual in this job primarily assists with fundraising events, volunteers, and supporting the agency’s overall strategic plan for development.  This position reports to the Director of Development.

Hours: 14 hours a week.
Location: Based in Autism Delaware’s Kent/Sussex office in Lewes, Delaware.

7. Ability to work collaboratively with the development team in the planning, implementation, volunteer recruitment for, and on-site management of fundraising events.

8. Willingness to travel to various locations throughout Kent and Sussex Counties.

9. Ability to manage a variety of administrative tasks associated with event planning, including mailings, data entry, solicitation of in-kind donations, and interface with vendors. 

10. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
